Why We’ve Donated Over £1 Million to NW London Schools This Year

July 2025

At Achisomoch, our mission goes beyond facilitating charitable giving. We believe strongly in reinvesting directly into our community, and we are proud to announce that this year we have donated over £1 million of our profits to Jewish schools in North-West London.

AAC was established in 1979 and has since become the UK Jewish community’s leading donor-advised fund. From the very start, we committed to donating 100% of our profits each year to educational institutions throughout the UK. However, this year’s donation is our largest-ever contribution specifically directed toward local NW London schools, which are currently facing unprecedented financial challenges.

Our decision was prompted by the severe funding pressures affecting Jewish schools today. Rising costs, combined with recent government policy changes – including the removal of key tax reliefs – have placed schools in an increasingly difficult financial position, forcing them to make difficult decisions regarding staffing, resources, and essential programming. We recognised this urgent need and chose to act.

Our CEO, Matti Fruhman, explained:

“Achisomoch’s role is about more than simply processing donations—we have a direct responsibility to our community. Given the significant funding challenges local schools are currently facing, we wanted to help ease some of their immediate financial burdens and contribute directly to securing their future.”

The schools have already begun feeling the positive impact of this donation. Gary Swabel, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Hasmonean Multi-Academy Trust, commented: “AAC has consistently been a vital supporter of our school. This year’s increased funding will directly benefit our students and, by extension, strengthen our community as a whole.”

Yonason Perl, Co-Chair of Menorah Grammar School, also highlighted the critical timing of AAC’s contribution: “AAC’s support couldn’t have come at a more crucial time. Schools across our community are facing significant financial pressures, and this grant helps us address some of our most urgent needs. We’re deeply grateful.”

Liebi Waldman, Chair of Beis Soroh Schneirer, expressed appreciation on behalf of his school: “We extend our heartfelt thanks to Achisomoch for genuinely recognising the needs of our schools. The generosity of AAC and its members allows us to sustain our avodas hakodesh – educating and nurturing the next generation of Klal Yisroel.”

The support we provide is only possible thanks to the generosity and commitment of our community of users. Over the past year alone, more than 4,000 members have donated over £70 million to tzedokoh through our platform, underlining AAC’s role as a central pillar of communal giving.

Akiva Hackenbroch, Co-Chair of AAC, added: “This donation reflects our commitment to reinvesting in our community. It represents the essence of Achisomoch’s mission: facilitating charitable giving while directly supporting the institutions that shape our community’s future.”

Eli Katz, Co-Chair of AAC, concluded: “Our schools are under immense and growing financial strain. Government policy changes around VAT, business rates, and national insurance have significantly increased the funding shortfall across the sector. As AAC, we are very pleased to step up at this crucial moment. Ensuring the continuity of our children’s chinuch – the very foundation of our kehilla – is both our privilege and our responsibility.”

We remain deeply committed to serving the community and thank you sincerely for being part of this important endeavour.
